Lleida, Spain – August 20, 2026 – NIPRO, a global healthcare company headquartered in Osaka, Japan, today met with the Mayor of Lleida at Lleida Town Hall to make a landmark announcement: the development of a new, purpose-built manufacturing facility in the Torre Solé industrial area of Lleida. The investment, totaling approximately €25 million, represents NIPRO's long-term commitment to renal care manufacturing in Catalonia and signals a significant expansion of the company's European industrial footprint.
The visit marks a meaningful milestone for both NIPRO and the city of Lleida. During the occasion, NIPRO's Chief Executive Officer delivered a presentation outlining the strategic rationale behind the investment, the scope of the planned facility, and the company's vision for building a future-ready manufacturing environment in the region.
The new Lleida facility, known internally as Project Zenith, is intended as a relocation and expansion of NIPRO's current operations in Mollerussa. It will continue producing acid concentrates and bicarbonate cartridges, essential products used in haemodialysis treatment, while providing the infrastructure and capacity needed to support growing demand. The facility is designed with scalability in mind, creating space for future development as NIPRO's European operations continue to evolve. Subject to the necessary approvals and execution milestones, the site is targeted to be operational by 2028.

NIPRO has maintained a manufacturing presence in the Mollerussa area for many years. While the current facility has served the company well, its footprint limits the capacity and technological capabilities required for future growth. The Torre Solé site, located approximately 21.5 kilometers from the existing plant, will offer a modern, efficient environment aligned with NIPRO's global quality and operational standards. The proximity to the current workforce means the company expects to retain its existing team through the transition.
Beyond production, NIPRO has indicated its intention to engage with regional academic institutions, including the Universitat de Lleida, to create internship opportunities, dual training programs, and industrial doctoral partnerships. The company also looks forward to continued collaboration with Invest in Lleida and Talent as a single point of contact for the project's development.
The investment is supported in part by an ACCIÓ grant, which requires the facility to reach operational status by October 2028. NIPRO has committed to maintaining open dialogue with the City Council as construction progresses, with a joint public announcement marking the formal start of this new chapter.
